Nicholas Rome is the Program Manager for the Interagency Ocean Observation Committee (IOOC) at Consortium for Ocean Leadership. In his role for IOOC, he strengthens coordination across the federal government to optimize annual investments in ocean assets and infrastructure. Nick implements the committee’s executive and legislative policy mandates, executes special research projects, organizes expert workshops and conferences, manages stakeholder engagement, and coordinates activities with international partners.
Nick received his Master’s degree in International Environmental Policy from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. He also holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Ecological Restoration from Arizona State University. He previously worked at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute as an analyst for the National Ocean Economics Program (now the Center for the Blue Economy at the Middlebury Institute) and has held various other positions for local and federal environmental agencies. Nick currently lives on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C.
